Army cautions against misuse of its name in jhut business: ISPR

Bangladesh Army urged the public to remain vigilant against fraudulent activities involving its name in the jhut (unused fabric from garment factories) business.
The appeal was made through a media release issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) this morning.
The statement described recent incidents where unscrupulous individuals and groups have falsely used the names of senior army officials to engage in jhut trading and other illegal activities in industrial zones. Such actions, it said, have tarnished the reputation of the armed forces.
“The army has been tirelessly working to maintain law and order and ensure a production-friendly environment in industrial areas,” the release read, stressing that recommending or engaging in jhut or other businesses is not part of the army’s responsibilities.
